Oaxaca Food

We ate at 4 different restaurants where the food was incredibility delicious!  We enjoyed a sample of 7 types of mole at 1 restaurant.  2 different fusion restaurants - one was a 7 course meal and the other a 6 course meal.  Then at very artsy type of restaurant call Los Danzantes where we enjoyed a started of Oaxaca melted cheese, goat cheese covered with a Mexican pepper leaf in a chile meco salsa and Oaxaca mushroom lasagna (Oaxaca has grows mushrooms in the mountains that have a very unique taste with 2 special Mexcal drinks.  You cannot miss Oaxaca chocolate either.  Mole is made with chocolate but their square have cafe's that serve the famous hot and cold chocolate drink and chocolate cake.  Oh my goodness I was in LOVE!

  

Friday May 27th driving to Tepoztlan

 Sorry I published yesterday in Oaxaca before Tepoztlan.  Tepoztlan was the first place we had tried posole.  This is a soup with chicken or pork, cauliflower and hominy.  Very good.

While driving we stopped at Las Cazuelitas, a restaurant along the way.  We have figured out years ago traveling you just have to step out and take a chance on places to eat.  This restaurant was very clean, probably the cleanest we have eaten at and everyone was very nice.  

We found it funny that the horses were just walking through town.  Did not see their owner.  They seemed to know exactly where they were headed.  We saw them later just up the street under a tree.

Very nice drive, excellent roads through the mountains.  We went from an area where it was mostly granite to limestone.  We just love Mexico, beautiful country.

We are now in Oaxaca

 We arrived in the City of Oaxaca on Sunday.  Hurricane Agatha hit the shores of Oaxaca which is 5 to 6 hours from where we are.  From the news it appeared we would have a ton of rain.  Well we lucked out and only a little rain every couple of hours.  Yesterday morning we figured we better visit Monte Alban before rain really came in.  

Monte Alban is a large pre-Columbian archaeological site in the Santa Cruz Xoxocotlan Municipality in the southern Mexican State of Oaxaca.  

Monte Alban is an ancient Zapotec metropolis founded in the sixth century Before Christ!

Monte Alban overlooks the city of Oaxaca.  You should have seen the road we had to drive up to get to this place.  Very little road with cliff on my side of the car!  YIKES!!!  I am so very lucky Clarence loves me so much and did not drive off the cliff!
