In Nicaragua - We decided we would head to the beach and stay a couple of days as we heard the beaches here are beautiful. We use IOverlander to find camp grounds. Overlanders put in their reviews and what is included at the campground. We saw several options so we headed to the beach.
I am going to go with the time of year we are here is "off season", but they just may be out of business.
We drove through this beach town. First a very poor area, but have stayed in other beach towns like this so wasn't to worried. Second, we are driving a Lincoln Navigator with Texas license plates and very obvious that we are foreigners.
The looks we were getting from the locals, we were not feeling their love for us to be there.
The 2 campgrounds were closed and even if they were open, we would not have stayed. We stopped at 2 hotels that had secure parking or their own parking lot not street parking. (You do not part on the streets unless you want to come out to a stripped car) I went in to see if they had a room available. The ladies that greeted me, again, I was not feeling their love that they wanted us to stay at their hotel. So we decided we were not far from the city and we would go back there and find a hotel.
All the hotels there you had to park on the street. Searching the internet, we found a motor hotel with a secured parking area. This was just like the other 3 motor hotels we had stayed in, so off we go.
A motor hotel - you drive your car into a private garage, pull the blue curtain closed and enter into your room.
The lady that was checking us in did not speak any English and we do not speak any Spanish, so we used google translate. She asked us how long we would want the room. Of course I said all night. She asked what time would we check out. I said 9 am. I asked how much and she pulled out her calculator to figure out the price.
WE ARE JUST SO STUPID!
She said our room was around the corner, the very last one. I asked about AC. She said she had to come to the room to turn on from the outside. So, off we go to our room. We go into the room. White walls, clean sheets, clean bathroom, all looks good. Not paying attention to this pole in the corner of the room on a platform. Clarence starts unloading the car. This lady has the strangest look on her face watching him do this. STILL WE ARE JUST SO STUPID! She turns on the AC and says if we need anything just call on the phone. Flipping on the light switch this lighted color mirror ball lights up over that pole in the corner. Oh, what is that wrapper item on the night stand? You know what that is without me telling you. Price list posted - break down for the price of the room. Min is 2 hours!!!
We GOT it now!!!! It was very clean, AC, with the stripper pole and lighted mirror ball! What more could we ask for. We cooked dinner in the room and had a great night sleep!
I hope Clarence does not kill me for posting these pics.
